Before we arrive

  • Have the fixture or part on site — the light, fan, outlet, or switch you want fitted, with its box and fittings.
  • Know where your breaker panel is — power to the fitting gets switched off at the panel while the work is done.
  • Clear the area under or around the fitting, with room for a ladder where it’s a ceiling job.
  • Tell us what’s there now — what’s being replaced or fitted, and how many items there are, so the quote is accurate.
  • Working through a list? Mention everything — jobs across several rooms can usually be quoted together as one project.

Not sure what your job involves, or planning work across a few rooms? Describe it on a quick call, or send a photo of what’s there now when you text us.

How booking works

  1. Call or text 365-366-6251 (9am–9pm) and tell us what needs fitting — the item, how many, and what’s there now.
  2. Get your quote — we confirm the price for the whole job before you book, with any fixtures or parts confirmed too.
  3. A licensed electrician fits and tests it — the electrician completes the installation or replacement, switches the power back on, and tests everything with you before leaving.

Electrical — common questions

Who does the electrical work?

A licensed electrician. When you book an electrical job through Handy Helpers, a licensed electrician completes the work.

How much does it cost to have a light fixture or ceiling fan fitted?

It’s priced by quote, because a single vanity light and a ceiling fan with a light kit aren’t the same job. Tell us what’s being fitted and how many items there are, and we’ll confirm the price before you book. Fixtures and parts are extra.

Do I need to buy the fixture myself?

Usually, yes — most customers already have the light, fan, outlet, or switch they want fitted, and the licensed electrician fits what you have. If you haven’t bought it yet, ask on the call what to look for. Anything supplied is confirmed with you first and added on top.

Can you take on a larger project, like pot lights or new fixtures throughout the house?

Yes — the work isn’t limited to one-off fixes. Pot lights across a room or a whole floor, new fixtures in several rooms, or a list of fans, outlets and switches can all be quoted as one project, completed by a licensed electrician. Tell us what you’re planning and we’ll confirm the scope and price before you book.

Can you do several electrical jobs in one visit?

Yes — a fixture, a dimmer, and a couple of outlets, or a longer list across several rooms, can usually be quoted together as one visit. List everything when you call or text so the quote covers the whole list.

Can I send photos or a video with my quote request?

Yes — a photo of what’s there now, the new fixture, or the wall or ceiling where it’s going helps us quote accurately. Choose “Photos,” “Video,” or “Photos and video” in the quote form below and we’ll add a line to your text saying you have them to share. This form can’t send files itself, so attach your photos or video in your messaging app before you hit send.

What are your hours and area?

9am–9pm. We serve Mississauga, Milton, Oakville, Burlington, and Hamilton.
